Blog Direction

Blog Direction
Hello Everyone, Jeremy here with a quick update on the direction of this website and specifically, the blog section. For a while now, I have been thinking about how to approach the blog. This article is to simply explore the challenges of finding the right tone, to move forward, and to be active in producing a great blog!

Below are a few thoughts on the topic you may find interesting... enjoy!

The Setup

To properly setup the area of conversation, let's take a look at a few questions that have been rolling around in my head regarding the blog. The questions are listed below:

  • What should the tone of the blog be?
  • Should it take more of a company brand approach?
  • How about more of a personal tone?
  • Where is the balance between the business, brand, and personal tone?

The Future

After thinking about this for a long time, (a few months) I've realized that the personal questions and concerns over the direction of the blog have had one specific outcome. Nothing!. Hesitation = no output. So now, starting today... the blog is going to have a wider array of discussion topics. The overall goal is to talk about creativity, with elements of personalization included. Simply put.. the range of topics will be broader.

To expand on this, below is a list of topics that may be explored in the future:

  • Camera equipment.
  • Video production.
  • My approach to the creative process.
  • Web development.
  • Business, marketing, and website strategy.
  • Personal thoughts, goals, and aspirations regarding the direction of this website.
  • Travelling and travel photography as it relates to business, speakers, and events.

Inspiration

I believe this is a great list to start with. Just produce content, use a camera, explore interesting topics... then see what happens next. In order to keep myself moving in the right direction, the following video has been very helpful and inspirational. This is Casey Neistat. A great content creator that has a very popular video channel on YouTube. In this video, you can fast forward to 18:05 and hear the attitude and approach he gives to the creative process.

Conclusion

Taking the time to write this down has been immensely helpful. By pulling together my ideas and changing their form from thought to written words, it has helped to make things clear. Just get stuff done. Be more active on the blog and just follow where the next idea takes you. That's it.

I hope you enjoyed this blog post.  If there are any questions, please feel free to contact me anytime or leave a comment below.
